Canadian Unit - Homeschooling

We are working away on our Canada unit. Right now we are looking more at Canadian animals and ecozones. Jayden seems to be enjoying it. We have a text book called  Everything About Animals that has a LOT of animals all grouped by their continent. It has wonderful illustrations and neat facts. We've been doing the worksheets and readings pertaining to Canada.

I've compiled some links below AND have created an informative little booklet that you can print out and put together to go through with your kids. It works as a bit of a unit overview allowing you to go more in depth on your own for each topic. You need to print both sides of each sheet of paper... A is the first side of the page and B is the other side. It is formatted so that some of the pages print upside down. That way, when you fold it all together, it'll function like a book!

It has a  LOT of content and is FREE!

Check it out here

...and, here are the promised links!

2013 / 2014 Unit Plans

Social, Science, and Spelling are all being combined into a huge Unit this year. I've actually gotten on the ball and have been working on lesson planning this time around --amazing, I know. This year we are studying the world and Canada.

September was Continents with emphasis on North America.

October has been Canada overview - history, provinces & territories, flag, national symbols

November & December will be more Canadian theme with emphasis on Canadian ecozones, animals and aboriginals

January will be Canada Review and we are going to have a Canada-themed party... then, we'll do kind of an overview of the world and review on continents... and squeeze in a bit of Antarctica

February will be Asia

March will be Europe

April will be South America

May will be Africa

June will be Australia (I may try to combine Africa and Australia into May so we can be done our school work before June and have June free)

Freebie Friday - Colouring Page!

HI! So, we have this colouring book that my son likes to work in called Hidden Pictures that my son likes to work in. I like it because he practices colouring but also does some simple reading, phonics, and math. Anyway, this year we are learning about the continents and oceans of our world... so, I made this little colouring sheet in the same style as that book's worksheets as part of his review.
